Things have been strained with my mom in the past (she has mental health issues), but things are good between us now, and she just had successful back surgery that relieved a ton of pain she was suffering from.

When I went to see Avengers Endgame, they had ads for movies on Mother's day. Big comfy recliners, reserved seating. So I bought 2 tickets to take my mom to see The Sound of Music, her favorite movie. All I have to do is sit in a comfy chair for 3 hours.

My wife passed away a few months ago, but so many people have stepped up to help out, and thru the tragedy I’ve been able to fix some broken relationships with some family members (mostly in-laws) . I think of them all as my mothers now.

It’s bittersweet... I am SO lucky to have the support that I do. But t he cost to have that support was incredibly high, and never would have paid it willingly. In the end, that choice wasn’t mine to make, though.

I’m so lost here. We got my wife the newest edition of Apple Watch around Christmas, with the understanding that it was to cover gifts for several occasions coming up. BUT it’s her first mothers day since our daughter was born in December, so I ain’t falling for that trap. I’ve got some ideas but we are also traveling this weekend since my brothers college graduation is Saturday. oof.
